Weekend Getaway at the Jekyll Island Club Resort

Weekend Getaway at the Jekyll Island Club Resort

This post is sponsored by the Jekyll Island Club Resort but all opinions that will be established in this post are all mine.

Baecation In Full Effect

So this past October my husband and I celebrated 13 years of marriage! Yessss marriage is work but it’s worth it when you both put in the effort. This post isn’t about “marriage” but I just had to put that out there.

We were afforded the opportunity to be hosted by Jekyll Island Club Resort is an island resort that’s just off the coast of Georgia. The resort boast an experience of history and grandeur along with the well manicured lawns. As well as 40 oversized suites at the Ocean Club which features large bedrooms, living rooms, and balconies with the view of the ocean.

An Actually Island?

So I know you’re wondering is it an actual island? Yes it indeed is. And to note it was my very first time being in an island so I was super excited. Before our trip I did a little research as to how we would get there and gain access to the island. We live in NC so we decided to drive. From Charlotte to Jekyll Island it was about a four our drive. Also you can go to http://jekyllisland.com/ to purchase your parking pass which is needed to gain access to the island. Or you can or you can purchase at the ticket gate if you don’t want to wait. For a day pass it’s $6.00 for cars.

Day One

So we arrived way ahead of schedule, listen my husband runs on that military time. Who can relate? The resort team were well prepared because our room was ready. They are also taking many precautions to keep every guest safe. Their staff wear mask at all times, and once you arrive someone greets you at your car and monitors the flow of guest check ins. Due to the Covid-19, some services such as room service, and daily housekeeping had been paused. But rest assured that every room gets thoroughly cleaned once guest check out.

We stayed in the gorgeous Sans Souci! It was once a six unit apartment building owned partly by J.P. Morgan Now it features 24 spacious guest rooms. A little history fact. The Sans Souci is actually named the first condos in the United States.

Our room was huge and nicely decorated. It featured two queen beds, an updated bathroom, dinning area, and balcony overlooking the historic district. Not yo mention the walk up closet, flat screen TVs and refrigerator stocked with bottles of water. Take a look at the video below for the official room tour. After we checked into our room we explored the property and took in the nature and history of it all. Pretty much everything is within walking or biking distance. We had passes to ride bikes but my husband pointed out I didn’t wear the correct shoes that day. LOL From the trees, to the sea shell walk ways it was the breathe of fresh air and peace I needed.

Beach Me Please

So y’all know I had to check out the beach right? I didn’t know until afterwards that the island has more than one beach. But we visited Great Dunes. This was our first time being on the Georgia coast and it was so beautiful, and quiet the best combination for a nice beach day.

Date Night

So it was suggested that we dine at the Wharf Restaurant which is right on the resort property. Check this out it’s on the water!!!! Talk about nice views and vibes. I made reservations for our anniversary dinner. The vibe was just right, with the live band, lighted deck overlooking the water and sunset. The food was delicious and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Day Two

We started off with a great breakfast at the Ocean Club Restaurant which is also apart of the Jekyll Island Ocean Club Resort. My husband and I enjoyed our breakfast and felt safe while dinning in the restaurant.

This day was a busy fun filled day! We were given tickets for the historic tour of Jekyll Island hosted by the Jekyll Island Resort as well as passes to the Sea Turtle Center.

We learned so much on the tour thanks to our very knowledgeable tour guide Caleb! We got a chance to actually walk in some of the what I call mansions but they call cottages on the resort property.

If you followed my Instagram stories I brought you along for the trip. Check out some of my favorite pics from the tour.

After all the walking we were pretty hungry so we decided to check out the pool house. The resort features a heated pool with bar that serves food. I had the taste for a burger and fries and it satisfied my tastebuds. It was nice to sit at the bar on a warm sunny day overlooking the greenery and water views. The restaurant staff was so nice and helpful. Giving us deets on things to do around the island which is a lot and making us feel welcomed.

A Getaway Indeed

Our trip was so much needed. And I’m glad that we discovered a new place to visit. We do plan on going back and taking the kids during the holiday season. We were told that the entire resort is lit up with lights and Christmas decorations. I know it’s going to be beautiful.  If you’re in the area and your looking for a nice weekend getaway definitely check out The Jekyll Island Club Resort you won’t be disappointed.
